Hi you two.  Just letting you know that we all had a fantastic time at Villa Dawn.  Awesome home.  We spent a lot of time around and in the pool, as well as on the veranda just chillin' and enjoying the scenery.  Of course, the week passed way too fast.  Everything was perfect!  Here's proof....and thanks for the memories.

WOW!!!  we had a great time and you have a wonderful house at the sea...thank you!  I hope that we left things in order. We were very conservative with the water and electricity.  We are staunch supporters of conservation in all forms and practice it on a regular basis.  We were delayed getting home so I will be sending the keys out tomorrow 1/6....We hope to visit St. Croix again and again!!!   Thank you again...L. and T. > Kent and Dawn, It's been several months now but I've wanted to tell you both how wonderful and memorable our trip to St. Croix was in June. We took our 3 big boys and 2 of their girlfriends. All of us had a fabulous time and continue to reminisce about our time on St. Croix, none of us will ever forget it. Years ago we said "no" to family trips in hotel rooms. Thanks so much for your wonderful house to bring us all together. > Nancy G.

Dawn & Kent

Thank you so much for the use of Villa Dawn this past week. My husband, kids and I had one of the best weeks ever on this vacation. The house was perfect! We all slept on the main level and never even had to use the lower level. The pool & view was magnificent!! You were right - it did feel like paradise. We loved the snorkeling & Christiansted &Buck Island & all the great food! St. Croix had so much to offer!

Thanks again & we really appreciate everything. Your website was right on target!

Dear Kent and Dawn,

I have enclosed the keys to Villa Dawn. We had an exceptional time at your vacation home. We spent a lot of time out on the deck and in the pool, it's so very beautiful...

St. Croix is a beautiful island, your home was the perfect place to stay and we hope to return in the future.

Sorry the keys couldn't go out immediately, today is the first day the Post Office is open since we arrived home.

Sincerly, Laura K.

Hi Kent and Dawn, Sorry this note is belated - (they stayed Christmas week 2007) somehow life got busy again when we returned!  Island life is definitely the way to go!  I wanted to let you know what a lovely stay we had a Villa Dawn and in St. Croix in general.  It was an incredibly relaxing week - the house worked out very well and our travels all went very smoothly.  We loved the pool and deck area (you were right) and the nearby beaches were also lovely.  We did the snorkeling trip to Buck Island with the company you recommended (Blackbeards if I'm remembering correctly) (Big Beards) and my husband and youngest daughter as well as our friends (the Dad and two boys) took a scuba lesson through the dive shop down the street and loved it.  We became true regulars at Off the Wall, and even had our 'own' waitress, Jeanette, who we became quite close to!  We also enjoyed other local spots, including Bogey's and Over the Moon (am I remembering that name correctly)?  (Full Moon Beach Bar) We adjusted to driving on the left -- took some getting used to!

I put the keys in the mail as soon as we returned - hopefully you have them.  I trust that everything was fine at the Villa as we didn't experience any difficulties at all while we were there.  Thank you for having the extra roll-away delivered - it was very helpful.

Thank you again.  It was a lovely week in a lovely spot - just seeing the view each day from your house made me feel totally relaxed and rejuvenated.  We were lucky enough to see a full rainbow from your deck!

Wishing you a happy New Year -

Best, Janet S.

Kent & Dawn,

I wanted to let you know that I mailed out the keys on Monday of
this week and you should have them very soon.

Thank you once again for sharing Villa Dawn in St. Croix.

Our family and the Shirck Family thoroughly enjoyed our vacation
while staying at your Villa.

We spent most of the the time relaxing and de-stressing by your pool
and the beach just down the hill.

The views from your home are absolutely awesome!  The location was
superb once we found our way around the island which only took a day
or two. :)

Your staff, from Joseph and Jennifer and the Pool Cleaning crew were
all very courteous.  I met your neighbor Keith - he helped try and jump
start our rental car.  Very nice guy - good to have great neighbors.

Thank you once again,
We hope to make it back to St. Croix very soon and hopefully visiting
our favorite Villa!

Kent and Dawn,

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Dawn so much. I think St. Croix has made every vacation we've ever taken pale in comparison. We went fishing twice with Captain Carl and caught Wahoo, and sailed twice with Big Beard. Snorkeling at Buck Island and diving Cane Bay was incredible. Your beautiful villa was the perfect place to start and end the day.

The pool was a big hit with everyone. We left behind a small air compressor for people to use to inflate their pool floats. I cannot say enough nice things about Calvin and his lovely wife at Spratnet. They made a wonderful Crucian meal for our group and threw one of our friends a birthday party none of us will ever forget.

Our phones decided they only liked to work if we stood outside behind the pool, so we have some phone calls we'll need to pay for. We also decided at the last minute to just pay  for an extra suitcase, so we never sent our box.

Scott wanted to me ask if Caribbean Breeze is still available Dec. 29- Jan. 5. It says it is on the calendar, but I wanted to check and see how much it would be for 4 that week. I think getting on the plane to come home may have been the hardest thing we've ever done. I also forgot to fill out the exit form, so I apologize.

Thanks again,

Amy S.

Kent and Dawn

Thank you for usage of your beautiful "Villa Dawn". We so enjoyed the pool, the short walk to the beach & how the house was furnished (from the little things like spices, to having an abundance of towels handy) The "leave a little, take a little" alcohol rack was quite fun also! Scuba diving was incredible. We had an extraordinary vacation.

Regards,
The Madrid Family

We had to include this reference email that one of our past guests sent to a woman considering a stay at Villa Dawn. It was so informative we just had to include it here on our comments pages.

Hi, Janet: I'm delighted to give you some information on Villa Dawn and am glad Kent gave you my contact information. I am currently planning our third trip down there in October of this year with my mother and sister. We have been to VD in Oct. 2004 and 2005, and are REALLY looking forward to coming back this October. We made our initial trip down there about 2 months after my father passed away, for some family time and VD was just what I was looking for. I'm saying this as someone who has traveled the Caribbean since 1985 and been to about 85% of the islands down there. I was looking for a quiet, easy trip to somewhere beautiful and not tourist-filled
and glitzy, which is why I selected October in general and VD in particular. I had been to St. Croix in 1995 before so I had some knowledge of it already but it had been quite a while. I needed somewhere easy to take my mom and sister since they had never been out of the country before. That said, St. Croix is as relaxed as you want it to be; if you're looking for quiet, you can find it there. If you want more excitement, you can find that on the island as well, it's just that St. Croix is quieter, more laid back than St. Thomas and in my opinion, VASTLY superior!

I found VD online and was immediately taken with it. The pictures are quite accurate, unlike some villas I have stayed at. The views are as spectacular in person as the photos show. One of the things I particularly liked about VD is its location; in my mind it is the best on the island. I have a preference for something quiet, away from noisy tourist areas, something more along the lines of what people who live there experience. VD is in a "neighborhood" but with no neighbors right on top of you and is very quiet. However, we have always felt quite safe there; there is a burglar alarm system for when you leave the house but I see that as a precaution these days for everywhere, not an indication of a problem. VD is a big house and I'm sure I don't have to tell you all the sleeping spaces should accommodate your group. In my opinion, 12 people will fill up the house but all of you won't be spending all your time in the house, so I wouldn't think of that as a problem. There is plenty of room around the pool deck (you should ask my sister, the stools built into the pool that allow you to have a drink -plastic cups of course- and watch that fabulous sunset is her most favorite spot on the planet!) The deck has plenty of space as well because you really should be outside on St. Croix enjoying what you came down there for!

As to Cane Bay Beach, it's is one of my choices for top beach on St. Croix. It's beautiful! The snorkeling there is great. It's a calm beach so kids do well there and it's also quiet. I do drive our car down from the house since I'm usually hauling snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. for everybody but you could certainly walk it with no problem. There are plenty of other beaches that are lovely on St. Croix too and I would suggest you tour the island and find others you like, but I'm pretty sure you will return to Cane
Bay since it will be your "home" beach and you will love it best.

With regard to any concerns you have about crime, I will tell you that traveling as a group of 3 women, we have felt completely safe on St. Croix. Of course, there are always incidents on any island, you can't get away from it. However, of all the islands I've traveled to, St. Croix is one of the safest in my opinion. You just have to exercise reasonable caution as you do at home: don't go walking on a beach alone late at night, don't leave valuables on your beach towel while you swim, etc. Chances are you wouldn't have a problem anyway, but why take chances? We have traveled all over the island, at night, and never felt threatened in any way.

VD's location is a plus in my mind but you should be aware it is not in a highly populated tourist area with lots of shopping, nightlife, etc. (this for us was a plus). You will definitely need transportation while on island to get from VD to tour the rest of the island, go out for dinner, etc. I can highly recommend Judy of Croix for car rentals. I found them through Kent's website and they have been nothing but extremely helpful and a joy to work with; I'll be renting from them for our trip again in October.  The driving in St. Croix is on the left but it is not as challenging as you might think. After an hour or so, you'll get the hang of it. Just be careful making left/right turns out onto the roads; you always want to look one way due to habit, make sure to look the OTHER way! LOL!  But it's quite safe and the roads are easily navigable. I've never gotten lost on St. Croix!

I am sure that there will be plenty of folks enjoying Christmas down there so you will have lots of company. I think the parade of boats would be one of my must do's. Also a must do would be a snorkel excursion to Buck Island; we have gone 3 times with Capt. Heinz and think he is the best: http://www.visitstcroix.com/captainheinz.html You should also do the Cruzan Rum Factory Tour; it's a quick little tour that's very interesting and then you get to sample any of the rums as much as you want. Estate Whim is very interesting as well; don't miss it. As for eating, we do our grocery shopping at Plaza Extra which is not but 10-15 minutes or so from VD. It is a big grocery store and is just like a grocery store at home. We do eat in about half the time, to save money and also spend time enjoying our vacation "home". Off The Wall is down at Cane Bay Beach and we eat there frequently; it's a picture perfect eat-on-the-Caribbean-Beach-can't-believe-we-are-here kind of place; highly recommend. You should try and catch a Caribbean buffet and dinner show at Divi Carina Bay or maybe Carambola (closer to you); it's very interesting and you get to try different kinds of dishes from the islands. Cheeseburgers in Paradise (east of C'sted) is also great. You won't go hungry down there!

I think I've touched on all the points of your email and hope that I've been helpful. Just to be clear, I have no ties to Kent and VD except as a repeat customer and this is my personal opinion of St. Croix and the home. I cannot express how much we enjoy Villa Dawn and are looking forward to returning. St. Croix is a special place and VD is the perfect way to enjoy it! If I can answer any other questions for you, please do not hesitate to ask. I know it is not easy to select a vacation home; I spent days online trying to find an island and villa I was happy with before finding VD and I'm very hard to please (function of having been there, done that - so I'm not easily persuaded!) My mother refuses to go to any other island and villa. That should tell you something....Enjoy your trip down there - I'll be wishing it was me!

Penny :)
